Is my digestive discomfort related to my menopause?
During menopause, the estrogen level drops to almost nil, which leaves the predominant hormone, progesterone. The result of the change in hormonal balance can lead to a variety of problems. As we grow older, and especially during menopause, our digestive system slows down to a bare minimum. The combination of the slowing of the digestive system with the hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone is seen as the nasty side affects, indigestion, heartburn, bloating, gas, and even constipation.
Cleansing the colon/liver on a routiine basis, every 4-6 months and combining that with digestive enzymes, can often ease the digestive woes during menopause. To learn more about digestive issues such as gas, bloating, constipation, low stomach acid, and H.Pylori, visit www.puristat.com
What is meant by the natural state of foods?
While this seems like an odd phrasing of words, it is actually quite simplistic. Let’s start with an apple, it grows on a tree, and if we pick it, wash it, we can simply eat it as is, right? Exactly! Now, that is the natural state of the apple. Now, let’s take this apple, pick it from the tree, wash it, peel it, cut it, mix it with some sugar, cinammon, butter, and put it in a slow cooker with some water. We have just made applesauce! Now this is our apple once processed. Now say we take the same apple, wash it, peel it, cut it, pack it in a can and add preservatives, this is now twice processed. Once by the addition of the preservatives, and a second time, as the apples, packed in the can are vacuum sealed by heated cooking of the can. What does all this mean? Simply, eat the apple!!
This same thing applied to our vegetables, we eat the raw vegetables, not the cooked, canned or frozen. Meats are a bit more difficult, but not impossible. Of course, we aren’t going to eat raw meats!! Look at tuna, a fresh caught fillet versus, processed canned. The natural state, yes, you got it!! The fresh caught fillet!!

Which is better bottled water or filtered from the tap?
Here are some cold hard facts on bottled water versus filtered tap water:
In March of 1999, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) released a report called “Bottled Water: Pure Drink or Pure Hype?”
City tap water can have no confirmed E.Coli or fecal coliform bacteria. FDA bottled water rules include no such prohibition (a certain amount of any type of coliform bacteria is allowed in bottled water).
City tap water, from surface water, must be filtered and disinfected. In contrast, there are no federal filtration or disinfection requirements for bottled water.
Most cities using surface water have had to test for Cryptosporidium or Giardia, two common water pathogens, that can cause diarrhea and other intestinal problems, yet bottled water companies have no such test.
Filtering out the chlorine, lead and other contaminants with a quality home water filtration system, at the point of use, just prior to consumption, is the best way to know for sure about the quality of your drinking water.

How often should cleanses be done?
The recommendation for frequency on cleansing is every 3 to 4 months. However; each of us have different digestive systems, with different symptoms and needs. Your personal cleansing may be every 2 months or every 6 months. Your body will tell you when it needs a cleansing as you will begin to experience the same symptoms you had prior to your initial cleanse.
My personal schedule is every 5 months. I have IBS-D, with gas, bloating and indigestion. I cleanse my colon and use digestive enzymes daily.

Can food allergies cause digestive problems?
Food allergies indeed can cause digestive problems. A lack of enzymes can be a cause of food allergies, which inturn can cause gas, bloating, distention, abdominal cramping, and a host of other symptoms.
Digestive enzymes and colon cleansing can help to not only alleviate the symptoms of the food allergies, but actually reverse the allergy itself, especially if the allergy is in conjunction to a decrease in digestive enzymes, or built up toxins.

You might want to do some research before taking anything. Most people praising colon cleansing products are either trying to sell them or have little information about why people would want to do this to their bodies.

which is entitled “Colon Cleansing: Money Down the Toilet.”
Basically, the human digestive tract is pretty simple. Food and liquids go in one end; water and nutrients are absorbed along the way; and wastes are excreted at the other end. The large and small intestines are tubes with some muscles that push the gunk inside along at a reasonable pace. Our ancestors evolved this system while eating a lot of roughage and little or no sugar or processed carbs, so a modern diet sometimes causes things to move too fast or too slow. It makes a lot more sense to treat diarrhea or constipation with a change in diet or mild medications than to use something that abruptly changes the chemistry and the contents of the colon.
Unless you have an illness that causes pockets to form in the walls of the intestines, you won't have much if any retained wastes that are not en route to being excreted. And if you have such pockets, you need proper treatment, not something that causes forceful evacuation of bowel contents.
Does it really make sense to take a product that causes diarrhea rather than eating foods rich in fiber so you have the normal 2-3 a day BMs that your ancestors had?

Can gallstones return after surgery?
Research shows that 50% of all surgery cases end up with the gallstones returning later in life.
