What is an anal fissure?
A fissure is an unnatural tear, cut, ulcer or crack in the anal opening. These can be very painful when having a bowel movement. The stool may be very hard and blood streaked. A fissure is often times due to constipation, inflammation or diarrhea as these conditions can cause irritation to the anorectal area.
Fissures can heal on their own, and often due when bowel habits return to a more normal state. To help your body establish softer bowel movements, and a better toned colon, use Puristat’s colon cleanse and Preserve fiber. Cleansing can help to re-establish a normal bowel pattern, and soften hard stools. Adding or increasing fiber through a fiber supplement will help to pull water into the colon, softening stools, and help to pull old fecal matter out of the colon. Be sure to eat foods high in fiber and increase your fluid intake with water. Visit www.puristat.com for more information on Preserve, and colon cleansing.
What is Celiac’s disease?
Celiac disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. People with celiac disease cannot tolerate gluten, a protein in wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten is found mainly in foods but may also be found in everyday products such as medicines, vitamins and lip balms.
Along with being a malabsorption disease, celiac is also a disease of an abnormal immune system reaction. The immune system responds to gluten by damaging or destroying the villi-the tiny fingerlike protrusions lining the small intestine. Villi normally allow nutrients of food to be absorbed through the walls of the small intestine and into the bloodstream.

What is pancreatitis?
Itis itself is simply the medical terminology for inflammation. Pancreatitis therefore is an inflammation of the pancreas. This inflammation occurs when the digestive enzymes within the pancreas become active before they leave the pancreas and reach the small intestine. The job of the enzymes is to attack the food and break it down, so instead, the enzymes begin attacking the pancreas.
Along with the function of the pancreas to release these digestive enzymes to the small intestine, the pancreas is also responsible for insulin and glucagon. These assist our body in using the glucose foods produce for energy.

How do doctors test for gallbladder functioning?
There are a few tests your doctor may use to determine if your gallbladder is functioning correctly. These tests may include some or all of the following: liver function tests, complete blood count, amylase or lipase level tests, ultrasound, abdominal X-ray, CT scan, HIDA scan, MRCP, MRI, or ERCP.
These tests can let the doctor know if there is an infection, inflammation, blockage of the gallbladder, the bile ducts, as well as the pancreas and in some cases the liver.
To help keep the gallbladder functioning at its optimal best, use colon and liver cleanses quarterly. Visit www.puristat.com for more information on cleansing.
What tests are done for liver enzyme levels?
Typically, the first is a blood test to measure the enzyme levels. This test shows only the levels and associates with some type of impairment to the liver, it does not measure the true function of the liver, or the reason for the elevation.
The next series of tests may be done if you or your doctor suspect an unhealthy liver, even when your initial blood test may not show any elevations: Ultrasound, CAT scan, liver function tests, bile duct imaging, biopsy.
To lower elevated liver enzymes liver cleansing is recommended by a number of both conventional medical doctors and alternative doctors. For more information on liver cleansing, visit www.puristat.com
